Section 38-33.3-401 of the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act (“CCIOA�) requires every unit owners' association to register annually with the director of the Division of Real Estate.

Policies that expire on January 1 each year (this year’s policies will expire on January 1, 2021) must be renewed by January 31, 2021 in order to avoid inactivation of the license. If you purchase a policy on February 15th, and backdate that policy to January 1, your license will be inactivated for non-compliance to the requirements listed in Commission Rule 3.9, which states that a license will be inactivated immediately upon previous policy expiration.

On June 30th, 2020, House Bill 20-1200 was signed into law. This bill HB20-1200 amended the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act (“CCIOA�) to include protections for unit owners who wish to display religious items or symbols on the entry door or entry door frame of their unit.
